A year in the life of Soroptimist International - Ashland:
SUMMER: We rent pillows and blankets at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's outdoor Elizabethan Theatre, earning money with which we do service, improving the lives of women and girls. FALL: We scout out how our money can be best spent, including looking for women to give awards & scholarships to or to honor for their service. WINTER: We deliberate over our choices for awards. SPRING: We make our awards, honoring our recipients with a luncheon in May.
And then we do it all over again.
What does Soroptimist International - Ashland DO?
Weekly meetings: Wednesday at noon, at La Casa del Pueblo ($9.50 a plate) where we stay connected and have a program of interest from someone in the community.
Party of Parties: Our FUN-Raising program where members hostess and attend parties, such as wildflower walks, house-parties, wine tours, and more.
Small Dinner Groups: We divide into groups of 8-10, and each group gathers for an evening meal (at restaurants or in homes) about once each month.
Service Projects: We run the OSF Pillow & Blanket Rental Booth, Soroptimist Strong Girls Strong Women, Road Cleanup, making baskets to raffle, etc.
Scholarships, Awards, & Grants: Dispersing raised funds to the community to improve the lives of women and girls.
